Man, through his mind, possesses familiarity with everything that is worthy of existence in the universe. What we call memory is designed to retain whatever is seen or heard. We carry an inherent desire and curiosity to know about things that are hidden from us. When this curiosity is examined carefully, it reveals the potentialities of the soul. It is this curiosity that enables us to recognize and become familiar with every particle of the universe.
The potential of this power, curiosity, is so immense that when it is activated, it grants knowledge of all existents in the universe: those that have existed, those that exist now, and those that will exist in the future. Curiosity acts as a propelling force toward knowing. In its essence, curiosity is an activity that encompasses the entire universe.
Allah’s Attribute of encompassing everything is mentioned in the Qur’anic verse:
إِنَّ اللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ مُّحِيطٌ
Verily, Allah encompasses all things.
A reflection of this Divine Attribute exists within the human soul. It enables the unconscious, the Oneiric Realm, to access knowledge of everything that exists in the universe.
