Answer … Yes, Doctor Sahib, I say this: when you go to the graveyard, say As-salamu Alaikum ya ahl al-quboor…
The Holy Prophet ﷺ instructed: when you go to the graveyard, say As-salamu Alaikum ya ahl al-quboor. If they could not hear, why was this command given? This is a command: when you go to the graveyard, say As-salamu Alaikum ya ahl al-quboor, and at the same time the Holy Prophet ﷺ said, “As-salamu Alaikum,” and they reply, “Wa Alaikum as-Salam,” but you do not hear it.
Why don’t we hear it? We too are living souls. Look, the dead body has such dominance over us that we cannot hear the voice of the soul. But those who, through muraqabah (meditation), through striving (mujahadah), through supererogatory prayers (nawafil), through obligatory prayers, through fasting, and through remembrance (dhikr), make their consciousness so subtle — they hear the voice of the soul.
Just like people who see dreams, and many of those dreams turn out to be true. You see a dream and the next day it happens — similarly, many such things happen.
